Milestone was founded in 1996 in Milan, and since then it has consolidated its position as Italy‘s foremost videogame developer on consoles and PC. The high quality of its products makes it unique in Italy, and it has established itself internationally as one of the best development teams working in the racing genre, both on and off-road.
The team are renowned for their creativity, expertise, and above all for their immense passion for the world of motor sports, be it on two or four wheels. Over the years they have been responsible for epoch-defining racing titles, including “Screamer” “Motogp 08”, the “Superbike” series, and, since 2010, the official games of the World Rally Championship. This has lead to the team forging close links with prominent partner companies over the years, including publishers like Atari, Black Bean Games, Capcom, Electronic Arts and Virgin.
The distinctive characteristic of Milestone‘s work can be found in the precision with which every single aspect of the product is meticulously developed, from the attention lavished on the riding or driving model to the vehicle physics, and from the intricate reconstruction of the settings to the sampling of engine sounds. Every tiny detail is treated with great care, and the team work closely with engineers from the most prestigious automobile and motorcycle manufacturers. The guiding principle is to offer gamers, be they new players or seasoned veterans, the sensation of actually being at the wheel of the car, or in the seat of the bike.
In 2013 the team worked on the creation of three officially licensed products: MotoGP™13, the game of the world motorcycle championship, released to coincide with the championship itself; MXGP The Official Motocross Videogame, the official videogame of the World Motocross Championship; and WRC 4 FIA World Rally Championship, the official game of the championship of the same name. Milestone is made up of over 100 people with an average age of under 30 years old. As well as developing the titles, Milestone also publishes their own titles in the European market.
In 2015, the team worked on 1 officially-licensed product: MotoGP™15, the game of the current Motorbike world championships, and their IP, RIDE, the first intellectual-property for street bikes. Two titles were announced in 2015: MXGP2 – The Official Motocross Videogame, followed by the acclaimed title dedicated to Motocross and Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO, a new IP dedicated to the life of nine-time world champion Sebastian Loeb and fans of the rally world. Milestone, made up of more than 150 people, with an average age of under 30, is both developer and publisher of its European market products.
The combination between the marketing and sales team and Milestone’s artistic and technical soul is spurring on the company’s productive capacity, as well as its product quality, which are increasingly adapted to market demands. After an initial increase in platforms for its games, with PlayStation®4, Xbox One® and iOS supported, and a broadening of distribution areas, the company is continuing its efforts on the worldwide market, aiming to become the Italian video game developer par excellence. The 2016 biennium will reveal consolidation of the Line-UP, with exclusive new IPs and licensed products.
